Telemarketing Scripts Sell More When Theres a Sales Process

I must have read a hundred posts this month that say "telemarketing scripts" don't work. Having directed a company that produced over 1 Million dollars a DAY in revenue I must respectfull beg to differ. We employeed thousands of callers using carfully thought out scripts to sell for Mortgage companies, real estate firms, credit card companies and many others. The key (at least partially) is not to go into the call selling but instead consulting and reaching pain points.

Many salesman go right into their call selling their product and that instantly produces a brick wall (a/k/a rejection).

A good opening would sound something like this (assumes the product sold is internet service),

Hi my name is Joe Smith, maybe you could help me. I'm calling today to see if you struggle with your internet connection and it remaining on at your business or home.

That may seem weak but it hits the pain point that people can relate to (if their service keeps going out). If someone were happy with their internet service they might not be interested in speaking with you over a couple dollars. But, if they were having problems with their service you might just hit a pain point and get your foot in the door. Those that start out selling their product usually come off as self serving (and don't close deals).

More to come. Share your comments and sales openings here. Please visit http://learnthesalesprocess.com/ for more information.
